How To Get From Where You Are To Where You Want To Be

Isn’t it fascinating that personal development started when we were still in our mother’s womb, I found an article on “What babies learn in the womb” (click on the link) and wonder why do most adults stop learning. My best guess is that they are comfortable being where they are and thus “decided” that this is who I am, this is all that I can offer the world thus they stop developing themselves and then they wonder why they are living a mediocre life and envy successful people.

When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things. 1 Corinthians 13:11

Imagine what would happen to a child or even a baby when he/she finds no pleasure in developing itself? For all it’s life, it has to depend on it’s parents/caregivers to provide for it’s needs and will never contribute back to society. I’m sure that didn’t happen and you would have put your mind and soul to study, learn, develop and achieve what you currently have and posses.

I for one have been living a comfortable life and thus I stopped growing. When you stop growing, you don’t think you have anything of value which you can share and that was what happened to me. It wasn’t easy and with encouragement from my husband, I pushed myself to start developing myself by reading and listening to podcast by successful people. He has the gift of exhortation, which is to motivate and inspire people to be better individuals.

Personal development is an essential part of life, Jesus himself is into personal development, as stated in Luke 2:52 “And Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.”

Make it a habit to learn something each day no matter how small and in time, I am sure you will look back and be amazed at how much you have grown and able to achieve more than you have ever dream of.
